Route Description Woodditton (about 50 yards past the water tower corner) to public footpath sign. Follow public FP between gardens and then diagonally across field (view of distant Ely Cathedral on clear day) and alongside wood to corner of field to track in woods on east side of Devil’s Ditch. Follow Devil's Ditch via Newmarket Racecourse and across A14 to Reach (1st checkpoint 7.5 miles). At end of Reach Green, take road to left of chapel. Follow to FP bridge of left across Reach Lode. After crossing FP bridge, turn right on track and across style to meadows with lode on right Follow track along Reach Lode bank to Upware Sluice (2nd checkpoint). Turn right over sluice and first left along lode bank to pub. Turn right after pub and then left at FP sign across meadow. Left after meadow and follow track (bears right around arable field to wood. Continue along side of wood to end and turn left along grassy track with wood on left. Follow grassy track (muddy towards end) to Wicken Road and chalk pit. Straight across Wicken Road at chalk pit. Follow track across humpback bridge and turn left soon afterwards down to riverbank. Follow Cam/Gt Ouse east bank to Barway Pumphouse (3rd checkpoint) Continue along east riverbank (across single line railway) to Stuntney Road. Turn left across Ely High Bridge, then right down riverside FP to The Cutter. Left up Jubilee Gardens to Broad Street. Cross Broad Street to the Park hill and turn right at top to back of Cathedral and to Paradise.
